RAAF Oddity #57 - Hudson TT (Target Tug) A16-84

On page 315 of David Vincent's 'The RAAF Hudson Story' Vol 1, there is a photo of Hudson A16-84 with the caption indicating that it was fitted with TT gear for trials as a Target Tug in Jan 1943. The photo he had was taken at an angle where no details of the Target Tug fitment could be seen, however I found I had the attached 2 better photos of the trial fitment in the archive.

Interestingly the winch and blades (here turned horizontal to the plane of flight to lessen drag when not in use) are fitted on the Portside, rather than to Stardboard which was the usual RAAF practice. There is a simple guide vane under the fuselage where the cable feeds out when in use also. This airframe was subsequently passed to 4 Comm Flight in Apr 1943, after which the TT Gear was removed and no further RAAF Hudsons converted. And yes I realise the designation Hudson TT is not official.
