In Pentland's RAAF Camouflage and Markings 1939-45 Part 1, he says that in 1942 some airframes were manufactured with large 'A1' type fuselage roundels for some reason. I found photos of a number of them, A20-622 is an example which later served with 5 SFTS. They are in the low 600 range which came from the factory in June 1942.
Profile of A20-622 in Foliage Green/ Earth Brown with Aluminium doped lower surfaces with 'B' type roundels above the wings, 'A1' fuselage and 'C' type lower wing plus fin flashes. Fuselage serials in Med Sea Grey. Black serials under both wings (omitted for clarity).

Profile of A20-469 in Foliage Green/ Earth Brown with RAAF Sky Blue lower surfaces with 'Blue/White' roundels in six positions, plus fin flashes. The airframe is fully armed with 2 forward firing guns. Fuselage serials in Med Sea Grey. Codes appear to be Sky Blue, note the wavy demarcation between the upper and lower surfaces.
